Patrick Massey, tenor

Tenor Patrick Massey is a North Carolina native and recent graduate of the Master’s program at The Boston Conservatory. His time in Boston has been fruitful and fulfilling with performances ranging from the World Premier of Matthew Vest’s opera The Hour Glass with the Juventas New Music Ensemble to Prunier in Puccini’s La Rondine and The Three Little Pigs (John Davies) Children’s Opera at the Boston Conservatory. In the summer of 2009, Patrick spent the summer in Italy performing the role of Don Basilo in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro through the Flagstaff in Fidenza Program. Patrick’s undergraduate years were spent at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill completing a degree in Vocal Performance as well as a second degree in Religious Studies with a focus in Abrahamic traditions.

Now with graduate degree in hand, Patrick is looking forward to broadening his performance experiences through multiple artistic mediums such as musical theater, straight theater, and contemporary opera. Patrick recently finished performing the role of the Assistant Rudolph Rojahn's critically acclaimed chamber opera, Heart of a Dog with Guerilla Opera. In June of 2011, Patrick will be premiering the role of Basil Howard in the World Premiere performance of Jeffrey Brody’s The Picture of Dorian Gray with Longwood Opera. Patrick is particularly interested in performing new works as well as the works of Benjamin Britten and Samuel Barber, but is equally at home singing Sondheim and Richard Rodgers. Patrick is a proud student of Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
