Brooke Larimer, Mezzo-Soprano

Recently hailed as a "dark, husky [and] rapacious Carmen" by Mark Kroll of The Boston Musical Intelligencer, mezzo-soprano Brooke Larimer is rapidly establishing herself on the Boston music scene. For the upcoming season, Brooke is returning to Brookline Chorus as an Artist-in-Residence, where she will be seen as alto soloist in Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and other concerts.

In addition to her recent run of as Carmen with Boston Opera Collaborative, her 2008-2009 season included performances as Jenny in Commonwealth Opera’s production of The Threepenny Opera; as Mrs. Soames in the New England premiere of Ned Rorem’s acclaimed Our Town with Raylynmor Opera; Zita in Gianni Schicchi and Bradamante in Alcina also with Boston Opera Collaborative; and as Mistress of the Novices in Suor Angelica with Lakes Region Opera Company. Her 2008-2009 concert engagements include performances of Messiah with Commonwealth Opera; La Donna/La Dame with Cappella Clausura; and Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit and Schutz’s Historia der Geburt Jesu Christi, with Brookline Chorus.

A native Vermonter, Brooke lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with her husband, Jeff, basset hound, Sandy, and fat orange cat, T.C. She is an alumna of Vanderbilt University and The Boston Conservatory and currently studies with Dr. Rebecca Folsom.
