Josh Schreiber Shalem, Vielle

Josh Schreiber Shalem (vielle), holds a Bachelor’s of Arts from Bennington College where he studied cello with Maxine Newman, and is now completing a Masters of Music at the Longy School of Music, where he studied viola da gamba with Jane Hershey, vielle with Dana Maben, and voice with Laurie Monahan. Josh is a founding member of several Boston area early music ensembles, including Seven Times Salt (an English consort), Long & Away (a consort of viols) and Musica Nuova (an ensemble dedicated to heightening the dramatic qualities intrinsic in Baroque vocal music). In addition to his early-musica activities, Josh is active as a Jewish educator and cantorial soloist, and is a Guild-Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner, specializing in functional movement for musicians.
