Shiba Nemat-Nasser

Mezzo-soprano Shiba Nemat-Nasser has a wide range of performance experience spanning from Baroque and bel canto repertoire to contemporary chamber works and experimental theatre. Her voice has been praised as both vocally rich and sultry by the Boston Globe, and as having a powerful mezzo-soprano voice with richness and clarity by the Boston Music Intelligencer. Ms. Nemat-Nasser has performed with a variety of groups including Newton Baroque, SoHIP, A Joyful Noyse, Odyssey Opera, Longwood Opera, Opera by the Bay, Labyrinth Choir, Orpheus Singers, Masterworks Chorale, the Warebrook Contemporary Music Festival, and UCSD’s SONOR. She also served as a Haas Visiting Artist at Wheaton College. Ms. Nemat-Nasser holds degrees in music and literature from the University of California, San Diego, and completed her master's program in vocal performance at New England Conservatory. A first-generation American of Iranian and Hungarian descent, she currently resides in the historic Woodbourne district of Jamaica Plain in Boston with her Australian Shepherds.
