BARBARA HILL

Barbara Hill is a soprano soloist and ensemble member performing the music of the Middle Ages through the present era.
As a soloist, she has appeared with Musica Sacra, The Boston Cecilia, El Fuego Early Music Ensemble, Seven Times Salt, 7 Hills Renaissance Wind Band, and Long and Away: A Consort of Viols. As an ensemble member, she performs with the Grammy-nominated ensemble The Crossing (Philadelphia, PA), Meravelha Medieval Ensemble (Boston, MA), among others, and is a founding member of Genesis Chamber Singers (Quincy, MA).


She also appears regularly with many of the choirs of religious institutions around Boston; to include Emmanuel Music, Church of the Advent, Church of the Redeemer, and St. Cecilia's Parish.
An enthusiastic supporter of new music, she especially enjoys the opportunity to premiere new works. Highlights include the world premieres of Kile Smith’s The Consolation of Apollo (with The Crossing, 2014), Adria Stolk’s The Promise of Spring (with Genesis Chamber Singers, 2015), Joel Puckett’s I Enter the Earth (with The Crossing, 2015), and Karl Henning's From the Pit of a Cave in the Cloud (Soloist,2015).


In addition to performing, Barbara serves on the board of the Society for Historically Informed Performance (SoHIP) in Boston, and helps to produce their annual summer concert series.
Barbara received her BA in vocal performance from the University of New Hampshire. She currently resides in Boston.
